Chaldean Peace Rally Draws Attention to the Plight of Native Iraqis
By Sam Yousif :: Monday, July 16, 2007 :: 37235 Views :: Government & Society

Michigan, USA - A peace rally organized by Chaldean community leaders adds to the growing discontent and lack of confidence in America’s effort to stabilize Iraq.  Chaldeans gather in the heart of Southfield, Michigan to demonstrate their frustration.  The large and influential Chaldean population in southeast Michigan says enough is enough.

The Chaldeans are all too familiar with the pains of persecution at the hands of fanatical Muslims.  The continual attacks against the peaceful Catholic sect have echoed across the ocean as Chaldean family members receive word of abductions, torture, rape, and killings.  Many voiced their concerns and shared their bewilderment at how poorly managed the war has been thus far.

“The American government continues to fumble in dealing with Iraq.  This has happened because of government incompetence.  The American government and the military have no idea what they are doing or how Muslims understand,” says Abdul Rahimmi, a former Muslim and rally supporter.  “What stupid military leader takes over an abandon church giving these savages an excuse to kill even more innocent Christians?  The stupidity of our Military incriminates the Christians for no reason.  I am glad my family and I are no longer Muslim.”

Chaldeans are not Muslims but native Iraqi nationals who practice the Catholic faith.  interestingly among the crowd of Catholics were a handful of Muslims who have converted due to their disgust with the power fanatical Muslims have yielded over the religion.

Abdul Rahimmi is a growing number of Muslims calling for peace and converting away from Islam due to its growing violence.  A former Iraqi native, Rahimmi fled Iraq after death threats against his family for openly debating an Imam about contradictions in the Koran.

The southeast Michigan peace rally draws attention to the heinous acts occurring against peaceful Christians.  The American government is not the only world-power ignoring the plight of Christians in Iraq.

The letter recently made public was also sent to former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Queen Elizabeth II, which said, “Iraqi Christians have been targeted by a wave of attacks on their persons, churches, monasteries, homes and businesses,” The letter went on to say that Iraqi Christians expected their government to ensure their “safety, security and justice.”

“The reprehensible failure of Iraq to guarantee religious freedom, justice and accountability toward Christians simply amounts to an invitation to continue the same in the future,” it added.

The letter signed by Syrian Orthodox Bishop Toma Dawod, Father Stephen Turkhan of the Assyrian Church of the East, Father Habib Jajou al-Noufaly of the Chaldean Catholic Mission, the Rev. Khoshaba Georges of the Ancient Church of the East and Father Nizar Semaan of the Syrian Catholic Mission states that since the March 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, there had been “thousands of attacks” on the country’s Christian minority.

Christians in Baghdad are being made to choose between converting to Islam, paying high taxes, giving up their children for concubines or leaving their homes.

Father Jajou says that Christians are fleeing Iraq at the rate of 50,000 a month.  “At this rate, there will be no Christians at all in Baghdad, Mosul or Basra a decade from now,” said the priest. “The situation is very, very miserable.”  U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees revealed last year that nearly 50 percent of all Iraqi refugees are Christian, although Christians account for just 4 percent of the total population of Iraq.

Rahimmi comments that if America wants to win it better shine a light on the peaceful Muslims and give them a stronger voice in the Muslim world otherwise Muslims around the world will only hear the words of power-hungry Islamic fanatics.  “Listen to what Khomeini teaches about Islam to millions of poorly educated people.  He says ‘Islam grew with blood . . . . The great prophet of Islam in one hand carried the Koran and in the other a sword . . . . Islam is a religion of blood for the infidels but a religion of guidance for other people.’ the followers of such person are fools and not Muslim”

Rahimmi continues to underscore his point that Islam has been taken over by those who wish to conquer the world as he hands out a flyer he gives to other Muslims that records the words of  Sayeed Abdul A'la Maududi.

The flyer reads:  “Islam is not a normal religion like the other religions in the world and Muslim nations are not like normal nations. Muslim nations are very special because they have a command from Allah to rule the entire world and to be over every nation in the world.

Islam wishes to destroy all States and Governments anywhere on the face of the earth which are opposed to the ideology and program of Islam regardless of the country or the Nation which rules it. The purpose of Islam is to set up a State on the basis of its own ideology and program, regardless of which Nation assumes the role of the standard bearer of Islam or the rule of which nation is undermined in the process of the establishment of an ideological Islamic State.

Islam is a revolutionary faith that comes to destroy any government made by man. Islam doesn’t look for a nation to be in a better condition than another nation. Islam doesn’t care about the land or who owns the land. The goal of Islam is to rule the entire world and submit all of mankind to the faith of Islam. Any nation or power that gets in the way of that goal, Islam will fight and destroy. In order to fulfill that goal, Islam can use every power available every way it can be used to bring worldwide revolution. This is Jihad.”

The flyer, written in Arabic, also included other statements by influential Muslim leaders.  The leaflet contained the following information:

“One day, millions of men will leave the Southern Hemisphere to go to the Northern Hemisphere. And they will not go there as friends. Because they will go there to conquer it. And they will conquer it with their sons. The wombs of our women will give us victory.”

---Former Algerian President Houari Boumedienne’s prophetic warning to Europe in a speech at the U.N. In 1974.

“Soon we will take power in this country. Those who criticize us now, will regret it. They will have to serve us. Prepare, for the hour is near.”

--- Belgium-based imam in 1994. “De Morgen”, Oct. 5, 1994. Cited in Koenraad Elst, "The Rushdie Rules", Middle East Quarterly, June 1998.

“The Quran should be America's highest authority”. “Islam is not in America to be equal to any other religion but to be dominant.”

--- Omar Ahmad, CAIR's (Council on American-Islamic Relations) chairman of the board.

"I would like to see the Islamic flag fly, not only over number 10 Downing Street, but over the whole world,”

--- Sheikh Omar Bakri Mohammed, (former leader of the extremist Al-Muhajiroun movement in Britain) in an interview with Reuters.

"I want to see the U.S become an Islamic nation.” ----Ibrahim Hooper of CAIR.

"We are not fighting so that you will offer us something. We are fighting to eliminate you."

---Hussein Massawi, the former Hezbollah leader behind the slaughter of U.S. and French forces 20 years ago.

"Jihad and the rifle alone. NO negotiations, NO conferences and NO dialogue."

---Sheikh Abdullah Azzam--- (Osama bin Laden’s late mentor.)

“Allah revealed Islam in order that humanity could be governed according to it. Unbelief is darkness and disorder. So the unbelievers, if they are not suppressed, create disorder. That is why the Muslims are responsible for the implementation of Allah's Law on the planet, that humanity may be governed by it, as opposed to corrupt man-made laws. The Muslims must make all efforts to establish the religion of Allah on the earth”

---Muhammad 'Abdus Salam Faraj, “Jihad: The Absent Obligation”, p43

Rahimmi said he comes to these peace rallies to support peace but to also share his warning.  “America better wake-up.  Muslims better wake-up.  The world better wake-up,” Rahimmi said.

For the thousands of Iraqi Christians who attended the peace rally they hoped their gathering would send a message to the American government.   Their message is that all Iraqis need to be protected, especially the minorities, and that the American military must learn more about the cultural sensitivities and danger they have caused Christians in the region.
